Green Card in black-and-white format

"GREEN CARD" INSURANCE CERTIFICATES

The National Bureau of Motor Insurers (BNAA) informs drivers with vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova that, starting with November 1, 2024, the "Green Card" insurance certificates covering compulsory motor third party liability insurance in the member states of the "Green Card" International Insurance System will be issued in a new "black on white" format printed on regular A4 paper.

Thus, starting with November 1, 2024, the "Green Card" insurance policies will no longer be issued on green forms - a primary document with a special regime, the issuance in "black on white" format being a preliminary process to the transition to the digital format of the "Green Card" insurance certificate.

It is important to note that all "Green Card" insurance certificates issued by November 1, 2024, on a green form, remain valid in that format for the entire coverage period indicated in the policy.

The new "black on white" format of the "Green Card" certificate will contain the QR Code security element, upon reading which the policy can be validated through the connection made with the official data portal of the NBM - rca.bnm.md, with the provision of relevant data regarding the contracted insurance: insured, vehicle registration number, certificate issuance date, period and territory of insurance coverage.

We remind you that, for drivers of vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova, the issuers of "Green Card" insurance certificates are the insurers licensed by the National Bank of Moldova, members of the BNAA, as follows:

SA "Acord Grup" S.A.;

CA "Asterra Group" S.A.;

CA "Donaris VIG" S.A.;

CA "General Asigurări" S.A.;

ÎM CA "Grawe Carat Asigurări" S.A.;

CA „Intact Asigurări Generale” S.A.;

CA „Moldasig” S.A.;

SAR „Moldcargo” S.A.

Accordingly, in order to have a valid “Green Card” insurance policy when traveling abroad, drivers with vehicles registered in the Republic of Moldova must purchase the “Green Card” external motor third party liability insurance from authorized insurers or their official distribution networks.

Given that, at the current stage, the requested form of the insurance certificate in the International Insurance System “Green Card” is the physical one, printed on paper, BNAA warns about the obligation to print the “Green Card” insurance on paper in “black on white” format, to have it and/or to physically present it by vehicle drivers upon request of the authorized control bodies.

Possession of the "Green Card" certificate in printed format is necessary to avoid possible sanctions for drivers for the lack of mandatory external third-party liability insurance with the requirement to purchase new RCA insurance.
